Engineered Quartz Countertops
Description
CIDG Egypt manufactures and fabricates engineered quartz countertops, the precision-made worktops that combine roughly 90% ground natural quartz with resin binders and pigments. Engineered quartz countertops are produced under intense heat, vibration and vacuum pressure, a process that removes air pockets and compacts the mix into a dense, flawless slab. The result is a uniform, non-porous surface that we then cut, edge and polish to your exact project drawings, so the finished tops fit precisely and perform consistently every time.

How engineered quartz countertops are made
Engineered quartz starts as crushed natural quartz, the same hard mineral found in granite, blended with about 7-10% polymer resin and colour pigments. The blend is poured into moulds and compacted under a vibrocompaction-vacuum process, then cured in ovens to set the resin. Because manufacturing controls the mix and removes voids, every slab has the same strength, density and colour. Fabrication then turns these slabs into countertops with CNC-cut sink openings, mitred edges and polished finishes tailored to each kitchen.
Product Information
Engineered quartz countertop properties
The manufacturing process gives engineered quartz its standout properties:
- Non-porous: the resin seals every grain, so liquids cannot penetrate and no sealing is needed.
- Engineered strength: vibrocompaction removes voids, giving high, consistent durability.
- Stain and scratch resistant: the dense body resists daily wear and spills.
- Uniform colour: controlled pigments deliver repeatable shades across slabs.
- Precision fabrication: CNC cutting and mitred edges produce exact, seamless tops.
These engineered advantages set it apart from natural granite and marble, where every slab differs.

Engineered quartz countertops frequently asked questions
What does engineered quartz mean?
Engineered quartz means the slab is manufactured rather than quarried. About 90% ground natural quartz is combined with resin and pigment, then compacted under heat and pressure. This engineering gives consistent colour, a non-porous surface and high strength.
Is engineered quartz stronger than natural stone?
Engineered quartz is very strong and resists chips and scratches well because the manufacturing process removes voids and packs the mix densely. Natural granite handles heat better, but quartz offers more consistent strength from slab to slab.
How are engineered quartz countertops fabricated?
Slabs are measured against your kitchen drawings, then CNC machines cut sink and hob openings and shape the edges. The tops are polished or honed and dry-fitted before installation, so they arrive ready to set on your cabinets.
