Aswan granite is a coarse-grained igneous stone from the Aswan region of southern Egypt, best known for its warm red and pink tones flecked with black and grey minerals, as well as a distinct grey variety. The same quarries supplied the obelisks and statues of ancient Egypt, which is the clearest proof of how durable this stone is. Aswan granite is rated around 6 to 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, giving it excellent resistance to abrasion, weathering, and heavy foot traffic.
