Are granite countertops heat resistant? Yes. Granite forms under high heat, so you can place hot pans and trays directly on the surface without damage, though using trivets is still good practice to protect the polished finish over the long term.

Do granite worktops need sealing? Granite is very dense and we seal every worktop before delivery. Resealing once a year keeps the polished surface stain-resistant against oil, wine, and acidic foods in a working kitchen.

What thickness should a kitchen countertop be? Most kitchens use 2 cm or 3 cm granite. The 3 cm slabs give a more solid look and stronger overhangs for islands, while 2 cm is common where a thinner profile or lower weight is preferred.
