Egyptian Granite is a natural stone that is formed when magma crystallizes slowly beneath the Earth’s surface. It is the second hardest natural substance after diamond, making it an incredibly durable and long-lasting material. Granite is tough enough to survive abrasion, strong enough to support weight, and inert enough to prevent deterioration.

Egyptian granite is a type of granite that was first cut and used by the Egyptian pharaohs. It is a high-quality material that is often used in the production of statues and artifacts due to its unique color and hardness. Feldspar, quartz, mica, and amphibole are the most common minerals found in granitic rocks, forming an interlocking matrix of feldspar and quartz with darker biotite mica and amphibole particles dotting the lighter minerals.

In conclusion, black granite is a beautiful and durable option for any home. Its unique appearance and durability make it an ideal choice for high-traffic areas like kitchen countertops, and its versatility makes it suitable for a variety of building projects. Consider black granite countertops or other black granite applications to add a touch of luxury and sophistication to your home.

Suitability & Installation

  • Our selection of black granite products offers a range of options for various applications, including paving, wall cladding, slabs, worktops, kitchen countertops, backsplashes, coping, cobblestones, flooring, and outdoor landscaping. We offer black granite products in all dimensions and finishes to meet your specific needs.

For polished black granite slabs, they are perfect for granite kitchen countertops and worktops. For flamed paving black granite tiles and slabs, they are ideal for patios and gardens due to their hard-wearing, non-slip, and scratch-resistant properties. The earthy and textured finish achieved by exposing the stone to high-temperature flame makes it a reliable choice for patios and walkways. The flaming method used on granite paving stones enhances their slip-resistant properties.

Our black granite setts are available in different sizes and finishes, including light split face finish and hard split face finish. They are perfect for creating accent pieces that draw attention in gardens and driveways. Granite sets work beautifully alongside granite outdoor tiles.

Our black granite wall cladding comes in bush-hammered, flamed, honed, and polished finishes, and they are suitable for wall cladding in malls and large buildings. Black granite cobblestones have a tumbled appearance and are perfect for creating a sense of timeless history in your home.

The installation process for black granite is straightforward and involves the following steps:

    1. Subfloor Preparation: The subfloor must be leveled and smoothed before installing the granite floors. Cracks and other weak points can develop as a result of uneven flooring, affecting the strength and vibrancy of the granite floors. Fill all cracks and crevices, and remove any dirt to ensure that the granite flooring is securely fastened.
    2. Laying Granite Tiles: Each tile used in floor construction must have a 90-degree corner. Tile spacers can help estimate the size of the tiles needed to cut if the room is larger.
    3. Mortar Preparation and Application: The granite flooring must be installed with a specific type of mortar. To achieve the proper consistency, mix 1 part cement and 5 parts sand with water. Use a trowel to apply a thickness of 6mm to 8mm.
    4. Granite Flooring Installation: Lay the granite tiles on the ground with the help of plastic spacers to ensure proper tile alignment. Push hard on all the corners to ensure that there are no cavities at the bottom of the granite flooring. Use a rubber mallet to lightly tap the tile to ensure that it is completely attached to the mortar.
    5. Application of Grout Over Tiles: Grout is placed between the tiles to ensure a solid bond. The grout must be prepared in small batches and utilized within 15 to 20 minutes of preparation.
    6. Cleaning and Sealing: The final step in the granite tile installation technique is to clean and finish the granite floor. Scrub the granite floor with a sponge and warm water to remove all dirt and debris. Although granite with dark colors does not require sealing, light colors do to enhance the floor’s appearance and make it sparkle.

With these steps, the installation of black granite is complete and ready for use.
