What is acid washed marble?

Acid washed marble is a surface finish created by applying a controlled acid solution to the stone, which reacts with the calcium carbonate and lightly etches the top layer. This dissolves the polish and opens up the surface to produce a soft, matte, slightly textured face with a mellow, aged appearance. The treatment can subtly bring out the natural colour and veining while muting any glossy reflections. The result is an antique, lived-in look that pairs well with traditional, Mediterranean and rustic designs, without the sharp shine of a polished surface.
