What is striped marble?

Striped marble is a machined surface finish in which a series of parallel grooves or channels are cut into the face of the stone, creating an evenly spaced, linear ribbed texture. The grooves are produced with precision tooling so the spacing, width and depth are consistent across the whole surface, giving a clean, contemporary striped pattern.

The alternating raised ridges and recessed grooves catch light differently along their length, producing a play of highlight and shadow that gives the surface visual movement and a strong three-dimensional quality. The stripe pitch can be fine for a subtle reeded effect or wider for a bolder fluted look, and the ridges can be left polished, honed or textured. Because the pattern is cut into solid marble, striped marble is durable and ideal for architectural feature surfaces that need a modern, tactile finish.
